Spiders
Spiders like small, safe corners and spaces to create their webs. They can be helpful since they eat other smaller insects, but if they become numerous or a nuisance, it's time to call the pest control company!
-
Ants
Ants are resilient and attracted to any food sources they can find. Like many insects, they live in large populations and have a hierarchy of three groups: a queen and male workers (both have wings), and female workers (without wings). If you see winged ants in your space, then you can be sure the infestation is at another level.
-
Wasps
Wasps are often harmless if left alone; the main thing to watch out for is nests and hives and NOT attempting to remove it on your own. Pest control professionals, like us, are happy to come out and remove hives/nests safely and give you peace of mind.
-
Flies
Flies are attracted to carbs, salt, and sugar, and humans have all three—so that's why you might have them buzzing around your face or hands during that summer barbeque. House flies don't have mandibles for chewing, so they are often attracted to liquids. They don't live long, but their breeding habits can quickly create an infestation.
-
Cockroaches
Roaches live in areas of darkness near a water and food source. If buildings have multiple levels, they tend to thrive in older buildings on the lower levels (think basements or half-under spaces) where cracks and crevices are more likely to happen from shifting ground and waterpipe wear/use. They are intelligent (some say even sentient) and learn the patterns of their environment quickly. If you see different stages of growth (smaller to larger, grown adult), you have a larger infestation and a pest control company needs to be contacted promptly to address the problem.

Boxelder Bugs
If you have boxelder trees (even silver maples), be prepared for boxelder bugs to visit your home. They are generally harmless, but if you find them invading and encroaching into your home, we can help with that!
-
Tent Caterpillars
While their nests can be unsightly, the main downside to their presence is that they can destroy the leaves of trees on your property. Usually, a spray can be administered and nests can be removed to take care of the problem.

Asian Beetles
A common question we get is how to tell the difference between a ladybug and an Asian beetle. While they are very similar, here are a few markers to tell them apart:
Asian Beetles: excrete a yellowish liquid that smells bad when threatened, invade the home, have larger bodies and bite.
Lady Bugs: have no odor, stay outside, sometimes in shady areas, have a smaller head and body and don’t bite.
-
Bed Bugs
Bed bugs (Cimex species) are small, flat insects. Bed bugs bite people and animals at night while they sleep, feeding on their blood. Bed bugs are reddish-brown in color, are wingless, and range from 1mm to 7mm in size (roughly the size of Lincoln's head on a penny). They can live several months without a blood meal.
-
Rodents
Rats and mice (sometimes squirrels) are quick to find cracks and holes in homes, especially if those homes are older or have structural problems—so naturally, basements and attics are quick access points to a place of residence. If you hear scratching or a small scuffling, there's a chance a rodent has made a home in those places.
